Do you believe in miracles? If so, can you recall the last time you witnessed a miracle? Was it last year, the year before or maybe miracles happen every weekend in your life?
Some people would call the process of a child growing up in its mother's womb a miracle. Then there are preachers who claim they can heal people suffering from various ailments by simply touching them on the head. They call them miracle healers.
I can not remember a time when I witnessed a miracle in my life so when a man rushed into the bar excitedly shouting, "That deaf and mute person who was here has started talking", I thought that day had finally come.
I rushed out of the bar to see this once in a life time event. I took out my phone and pressed the camera application so that I could capture this moment permanently for future reference.
But what I found outside was something very different from what I was expecting. It wasn't a miracle at all. A man dressed in a blue golf shirt was being beaten by a small number of men while the rest were laughing and no one was trying to stop this.
That is how my dream for a miracle was shattered. What I thought was a lifetime event turned out be just another brawl.
Apparently, Mr. Blue Golf Shirt was at this particular place for more than four hours pretending that he was deaf and could not talk. Usually, our society feels pity for such people because most of them can't find any decent work so some people even gave him loose change and beer.
After taking in a lot of beer, Mr. Blue Golf Shirt lost his cellphone. I know you are wondering how a man who cannot talk or hear a word can use a cellphone for communication. Maybe he uses it for sending and receiving text messages only?
But there is an interesting twist to this story. Mr. Blue Golf Shirt had earlier approached one of the patrons and said, "I suspect you have stolen my cellphone. Let me frisk you."
The man everyone thought was deaf and could not talk had finally spoken. This infuriated a lot of people who now suspected that Mr. Blue Golf Shirt was a conman. Instead of following up his story of losing his cellphone, they turned on him and started slapping him.
I guess I will have to wait a little longer for my miracle.
